Ever wondered what it was like to be a teacher in Western Australia way back in the late 1800s? Prepare to explore the fascinatingly strict rules and expectations they had to live by, and then ponder how on earth society managed to transform all that into today's rather different education system. It sounds like a bit of a historical chuckle, mixed with some genuine insight into how we got to where we are now. Our guide for this particular journey into the past is Joel Smoker.
This intriguing session is part of our ongoing Winter Warmer program, where we invite you to escape the chill and settle in for some of Bunbury's more unusual and entertaining local histories. We promise each instalment is a bit different, always good for a yarn, and everyone's welcome. The best part? It won't cost you a cent, though a heads up if you are planning to come along is always appreciated. Join us at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre, 1 Arthur Street, Bunbury, on Sunday, 31st August 2025, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
