Perth audiences are about to be transported to a world of killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, and gloriously over-the-top showgirls, as Drew Anthony Creative - in cahoots with Planet Royale - presents the Broadway comedy smash hit Monty Python's Spamalot live on stage from May 20.
Described as "lovingly ripped off" from the legendary film
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot retells the quest of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table with a distinctly irreverent twist. Expect a bevy of beautiful showgirls, village idiots, cows, killer rabbits and, of course, those infamous French people - all wrapped up in a night of musical mischief and laugh-out-loud silliness.
"It’s just a flesh wound!"
Spamalot is pure Monty Python mayhem, brought to life with unforgettable songs, absurd humour, and zany characters. The original Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has delighted audiences around the world with its blend of classic Python gags and big Broadway spectacle.
Featuring the crowd-pleasing anthem "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," this production promises a gloriously entertaining night out that leaves audiences in stitches from start to finish.
A homecoming for Drew Anthony Creative
This production marks a special homecoming for Drew Anthony Creative, which returns to its home base at Planet Royale in Northbridge following critically acclaimed seasons of
Saturday Night Fever and
The Diary of Anne Frank (with an all-WA cast) at Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre, as well as performances at Sydney's State Theatre.
Now, the company brings its trademark energy and polish back to Perth with a fully homegrown take on
Spamalot.
"This is my first production in Perth for 2026, and I couldn’t be more excited," says Producer/Director Drew Anthony.
"Spamalot is a hilarious retelling of the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table and a rollicking celebration of all things Monty Python - bursting with entertaining songs, absurd humour and zany characters."
An all-WA cast and a legendary on-screen cameo
In a celebration of local talent, this
Spamalot features an all-WA cast, bringing Perth's finest performers together for a riotous night of musical comedy. Adding to the excitement, audiences will be treated to a special onscreen appearance by
Monty Python legend Eric Idle, who plays the role of God.
From the Camelot showgirls to the Knights Who Say “Ni!”, every moment of this production is crafted to deliver maximum fun for both die-hard Python fans and newcomers alike.
A Spamalot "world-first"
In a cheeky twist worthy of Monty Python themselves, Drew Anthony promises a Spamalot "world-first."
"In this production," he says,
"the infamous Black Knight will have all four limbs removed at every performance." It's the kind of outrageous, over-the-top gag that perfectly captures the spirit of the show - and a hint of just how far this production is willing to go to keep audiences laughing.
