If your school-aged kid gets tongue-tied or shy about reading aloud, the Reading Buddies session might be just the ticket, thanks to some patient therapy dogs who couldn't care less if you stumble over words. These furry listeners create a chill, judgment-free zone where children can practice reading one-on-one, and it's no secret that hanging out with dogs can sneak in a bit more confidence and fun into the whole literacy thing.

The sessions run for about 20 minutes on the first Saturday of each month, tucked away in a quiet corner of the Bunbury Public Library for some private time with the dog and its handler, no nosy interruptions allowed. Kids can tote along their favourite book or grab one from the shelves there. It's all free, but you'll need to book ahead to snag a spot. When: Saturday 6 December 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM.
