Looking for a way to keep the kids entertained these school holidays without having to wrestle a telescope or stay up past your bedtime? The Bunbury and Withers Libraries have cooked up a that lets you hunt for stars, planets and maybe a few rogue comets all while safely inside, in the air conditioning, during sensible daylight hours. It is the perfect activity for families who like their astronomy served with a side of carpet and a roof over their heads.

From Monday 6 July to Saturday 18 July 2026, wander into the childrens area of either Bunbury Library or Withers Community Library and track down hidden images of the night sky. No bookings, no fuss, just show up anytime during opening hours and give it a go. Everyone who takes part goes into the draw to win a prize pack, which is a pretty decent reward for spotting a picture of the moon that has been taped to a bookshelf. Both libraries are within an easy drive of Bunbury, so pick your favourite branch and see if you can find all the celestial bits and bobs before the school holidays run out.
